Easy Oven Mitt Tutorial: Made with 8 Moda Jelly Roll Strips

Oven Mitt made with Jelly Rolls

I really needed some new oven mitts so we decided to make use of our jelly roll strips and design an oven mitt.

It took a bit of thinking on our part to get this to work as we didn’t want to use binding on the oven mitt.

Watch the video tutorial below

NOTE:
Most oven mitts of this type do have some binding to hide all the seams but our goal was to avoid that.

It turned out to be a really quick and easy method and even if you don’t have jelly roll strips you can make this. Just cut some 2½” strips from your fabric stash.

You can even personalize these oven mitts by using fabric to suit the person you are gifting them to. I mad my grandaughter Ishta some oven mitts using black fabric with sugar skulls on them.

Where Can You Buy FriXion Pens

I did not hear how long the strips would be? I think you said 2 1/2″ wide?

Yes Carol the strips are 2 1/2″ wide by the length of the jelly roll strips. You will trim the strips to the length of the shortest strip when you trim off the selvedges. So they will more than likely end up around 40″ long. It doesn’t have to be too precise.

You may have an ad blocker that stops you from seeing the video Jacque. I tried it in a couple of different browsers and the video is showing for me.

Thank you for your comment Maggie. They are easy to make, and ideal for using up 2.5″ fabric strips.
